17mm Orion Highlight Plossl Telescope

Orion HighLight Plossls are our exclusive, premium line of 1.25″ Plossl eyepieces with a great deal of remarkable enhancements. HighLight eyepieces offer a generous 52-deg field of view and crisp, sharp images. The HighLights’ 4-element optics are wholly multi-coated — each air-to-glass lens surface is multi-layer coated for the most eminent possible light transmission and better contrast. The lens edges are blackened for further and added contrast enhancement. The machined aluminum housings of the HighLight Plossls sport a distinguishable anodized finish, with grip traction knurled right into the metal. Supple rubber eyeguards shield out extraneous light and fold down for eyeglass wearers. The barrels of HighLight Plossls are precision-machined to a tolerance of +/- 0.05mm from the nominal specification, so you may be sure of a great fit in your diagonal or focuser. And of course they are internally threaded to receive filters.

Very Nice Eyepiece For A Good Price

I’ve been an active backyard astronomer for a number of years. During this time, I’ve in all probability owned a couple of dozen eyepieces. I’d rate this as a very high quality plossl. The mechanical construction is very solid. It’s a good looking eyepiece. The optical performance was evenly impressive. The lenses are completely multi-coated and the edges are blackened. This improves performance in various areas. Contrast is very good, there are no internal reflections and faint objects that might other than as supposed or expected be invisible in a lesser lens may be seen.
